一週間、一ヶ月、一年と待ち続けて来た
新聞の見出しを印刷するインクに
血の臭いを嗅ぎとり
いつも民衆の叫び声を耳にしながら
すでに一度体験していることを
無理して思い出すまでもないだろう
政府は国民に嘘をつき
国はまた戦争へと押し流されて行っている


戦争に武器を送り込む奴らの顔に浮かぶ翳り
自分たちの商売の利益に結びつく土地で
その戦争は繰り広げられている


ラジオのトーク・ショーやテレビの番組
いつ聞いても同じ顔ばかり
合衆国はいかに自由のために立ちあがり
どれほど朋友たちを援助しているか

だけどぼくらが言う朋友っていったい
誰のことなんだ
多くの政府は自分たちの仲間を
殺しているんじゃないのか？
だから民衆はもう我慢できなくなって
銃をとったり石を投げたりするんじゃないのか


どっちつかずのままの生活
砲火を浴びる民衆
銃撃される子供たち
鉄条網は血にまみれる


戦争を煽り立てる奴らの顔に浮かぶ危険な翳り
誰もが名前すら知らない土地で
その戦争は繰り広げられている


服は車を売りつけられているように
大統領まで売りつけられているぼくら

青春から宗教まで奴らは何でも売り物にし
挙げ句のはてに戦争まで売りつけるんだ


影にいる黒幕は誰なのかぼくは知りたい
そして誰かが奴らに問い質すのを聞きたい
敵が誰なのか奴らは教えてくれるかも知れない


だけど戦いに加わったり、ましてや
命を捧げたりということは
絶対にしようとしないんだ


不安定な状態での生活
砲火を浴びる人々
銃撃される子供たち
鉄条網は血にまみれる

今も思い出します。
