今回のノーベル文学賞を受賞した
ボブ・ディランは、
スピーチだけを託して
授賞式には参加しませんでした。


今年度のノーベル文学賞者がボブ・ディラン
というニュースを聞いた時、
世界の議論は２つに分かれたと言われていますが、
私は？の方でした。


ボブ・ディランは大好きだし、
かなり影響も受けた人です。

１９７０年代、レコードで聴いていた
ボブ・ディラン。

彼の曲にまつわる
思い出もたくさんあります。

ダンゼル・ワシントンが主役のボクサーを演じた
１９９９年の映画「ハリケーン」
はすごくすごく心を揺すぶられましたが、
映画の中に挿入された
ボブ・ディランが「ハリケーン」を歌う
コンサートシーンにも
深く感動しました。


でもね、何年前だったかのスーパーボウルで、
GMの高級SUB、キャデラックエスカレード
のコマーシャルに出ていたボブ・ディラン
を観て、私はちょっとがっかりしたんです。

おそらくお金も十分あるだろうに、
今さら、すごい広告料の
スーパーボウルのCMに出るかぁ？
ってね。

今年は作家ではノーベル賞にふさわしい
人はいなかったの？ノーベル協会さん。


ボブ・ディランにあげるのなら
春樹さんにあげてよ（笑）。

「世界の終りとハードボイルドワンダーランド」
は村上春樹の作品の中で、
いまだに１番か２番に好きな小説です。

この中にはボブ・ディランがしばしば
登場します。



下巻の終りごろの
＜ハードボイルドワンダーランド＞
のおしまいは、

ボブ・ディランが
『ライク・ア・ローリング・ストーン』
を唄いはじめたので、私は革命について
考えるのをやめ、
ディランの唄にあわせてハミングした。
我々はみんな年をとる。
それは雨ふりと同じようにはっきりと
したことなのだ。


そして最終章の
＜ハードボイルドワンダーランド＞は

私も雨ふりのことを考えてみた。
‥‥
誰にも雨を止めることはできない。
誰も雨を免れることはできない。
雨はいつも公正に降りつづけるのだ。

私はこれで失ったものをとり戻すことが
できるのだ、と思った。
それは一度失われたにせよ、
決して損なわれてはいないのだ。
私は目を閉じて、その深い眠りに身を
まかせた。ボブ・ディランは
『激しい雨』を唄いつづけていた。



４８歳でこういう文章を書き、
こんな作品を作りあげていた村上春樹
もやっぱりすごいと思います。
